Lady Gaga is an artist who is known.
Lady Gaga also makes video clips that are different from other.
Longer clips, mysterius, Arty.
Mylene is unfortunately not well known. Few people know the clips of Mylene.
Many people think the clips of Lady Gaga are very good. Personally I think the clips of Mylene have a better story. And more exciting, more mysterious. Too bad that people do not know her clips.
If it where Mylene had been at the top!
What do you think?

Honestly, I have seen a lot of similarities between Mylène and Stefani, one of them being the length and movie-like quality of both of their music videos. I have often wondered if Lady Gaga secretly takes "inspiration" from Mylène, or maybe it's just the coincidence of the world of artistry and pop music in which ideas can only be so original. In any case, I plan to make a video showing the similarities to let people decide for themselves.
More related to what your original topic, I do mostly prefer Mylène's videos, but Lady Gaga has made quite a few that I thoroughly enjoyed. "Telephone", however, was a huge disappointment for me with it's irrelevant storyline and terrible acting. For that reason I believe Mylène will always take prevalence.
If Mylène had been the international superstar, I don't know how good that would have been. Of course she deserves the attention, but I wonder if she would want it. She seems more than satisfied with her European fan base and I believe she's said before that she has had many opportunities to go international but chose not to take them. So I don't think we should worry about that, I think it's safe to say that she's more than happy. I certainly do wish more people knew of her genius, though _________________ "J'aime ceux qui m'aiment..." - Mylène Farmer

In 2005:
A well-known radio station in the Netherlands will not play Mylene because of her lyrics.
Like the song: Fuck them all.
Mylene Farmer was done with it. Mylene makes no effort for the Dutch radio stations.
Sorry for my bad english.

Mylène makes no effort for ANY radio station...
And by now, we should all know it, accept it, be content with what we get... _________________ Et vous??

Well 70% of the adult population in the Netherlands is fluent in English, so for them to play a song with the word "fuck" in it (which is nearly the dirtiest word you could use) wouldn't seem likely, no.
I'm sure that Mylène knows what she's doing when she writes these lyrics; Being who she is and writing as rawly as she does, someone is bound to object. She has said that she doesn't censor herself when she writes, except in extreme cases, and she feels no need to walk on eggshells about her music. Her attitude seems to be that if someone dislikes it then they don't have to be a part of it. That's part of what makes Mylène such an astounding icon, because she really refuses to change for anyone.
Relating back to the original comparison, Lady Gaga has refused to "conform" in some ways, but at the same time, being this outrageous and avant-garde type of person isn't all her own creation, it's the product of stylists and producers telling her what her next move should be. If you look back at old videos of Stefani from before she was famous, she was a very polished and clean-cut individual who performed beautiful acoustical music, where as now she's one of the most closely watched fashionistas, and her music has been converted into synth-pop madness. She is controlled by the music industry, and she does what they want, which is ultimately what they perceive as being what the public wants, because it's what the public has come to expect from such a source. It's a vicious cycle, but it's the reason Lady Gaga has "the fame" (no pun intended) and Mylène does not.
Sorry that's such a block of text _________________

That's a very interesting point, KatForrest, and I might add, very eloquently put. Yer perdy smart fer a young-un!
This is why, although I like Lady Gaga, I've always been a little more impressed by and have a little more respect for artists like Mylene, Prince, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Zappa, Todd Rundgren . . . artists that produce themselves . . . artists that not only are in total control of their careers, but tend to write all their own music, i.e., not a creation of an A&R team at a record company. Not that there's anything wrong with those artists (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, etc.) . . . but there IS something extra special about the artist who is in total control of his or her own career.

This thread should be trashed... pointless discussion
GaGa and Mymy are two completely different people with two different styles and sounds.
Mymy's music clips were (and kind of still are but they lost something when she stopped working with boubou) completely in a different league to anything GG can put out. _________________
