NOTE: PLEASE READ THIS POST FULLY BEFORE ASKING ANY QUESTIONS.

I'm not going to make this long and painfull.
In short. MFIC 2.0
1. New server, running different ports for people who had trouble connecting or transfer rate problems due to ISP port blocks/caps.
2. New client, with too many features than i'm going to list here. I would like to mention one thing..."multi-source".
Please read everything that Kam has written below. If you have any questions at all just send me(
cannon) a pm.
Consider this a fresh start for everyone. If you had problems connecting, tranfering, for some reason got 'removed' (shame! on you

), or are just a new member, The MFIC channel along with the MFI forum is the best source for finding French material on the net.
A couple rules I want to stress...
1. Disrespect to other channel members will absolutly not be tolerated. No exceptions. If you can't control your mouth...er 'fingers', duct tape them together (mouth or fingers).
2. While on the MFIC server, you MUST be in the MFIC channel.
3. see #1.
(I may add some more here as I think of them.)

THE M.F. INTERNATIONAL DOWNLOAD CHANNEL
WHAT IS IT?
The M.F. International Download Channel is a private OpenNap server reserved for the use of M.F. International forum members. In it, members can meet in a chatroom and talk, and also easily exchange nearly any type of file they want. It's an extension of M.F. International, basically. We talk about French artists here on the forum, but the music, the videos, and whatever else is related to them we spread around to each other through the channel.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO FIND THERE?
Anything and everything, practically. Since what's available will depend on what the members who are logged on are sharing at any given moment, there may be times when you won't find what you're searching for specifically. But by and large, you can get your hands on nearly anything that is spoken about on the forum. If, for example, you're looking for every Mylène remix or b-side in existence, it's there; so are probably 99% of all Alizée videos ever encoded.
AM I EXPECTED TO SHARE? AND IF SO, WHAT?
In a word, yes. Given the fact that everybody and their dog now has nearly every Alizée video in existence, we're more than anything interested in seeing material by other French artists.
Artists from outside of France are not forbidden, of course. But the focus is not on them.
WHAT'S NOT ALLOWED ON THE CHANNEL?
Warez, porn, or anything else that may be of questionable legality or morality. Also, it's absolutely forbidden for anyone to verbally abuse anyone else, or do anything that is likewise forbidden here on the forum. Period. Violators will be banned from the channel and not allowed back on.
WHAT IF I'M ON A DIALUP CONNECTION?
You probably won't be able to share your files, of course. Not to mention that since the majority of videos available from other members are 100+MB in size, you'll probably be there for eternity if you want to get them. But you won't be looked down upon.
WHO'S THE CHANNEL ADMIN?
Cannonfodder's the man. Send him a card (or a good file) as a sign of thanks!
OKAY, I'M DONE READING. HOW CAN I JOIN? [REVISED ON 2005.01.29]
It's very simple. In order to gain access to the channel, you have to a) be a member of the forum, and b) be an active participant. Once you have a minimum of thirty posts, you can post a message in this thread asking for access. If you meet the requirements, I'll create an account for you, e-mail you the logon instructions, and send you a PM notifying you that you should have received an e-mail. If you get a PM but no e-mail, just contact me privately through PM.
Something to keep in mind regarding the 30-post minimum, however: 30 posts means 30 posts that fall under the guidelines of our
board etiquette. This means that messages have to be literate and contribute something to the community--be it something significant or something as tiny as an opinion. If your posts are three words long each, you do nothing but ask for people to share files with you, and in general prove nothing but a nuisance for the moderating team, then you'll be turned down and pointed to this very paragraph.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTAINING A CHANNEL ACCOUNT
Once again, very simple. Given that the channel works in conjunction with the forum, channel members are expected to
remain active participants of the forum. If once you attain channel access you abandon the forum and never rise above the original 30 posts, then the channel account will get deleted and it'll be more difficult to regain access.
UPDATE: Please note that as of Dec. 2005, I'm no longer able to take prompt care of all requests for access/password help/etc due to time constraints. Duties will be taken over by
Cannon.
