Hello all!

This one is one of my favorite Mylene songs and thought it would be great to take a stab at trying to translate it. There was one part I wasn't so sure about, but this seemed pretty easy to translate. I noticed a few puns, which I'll put a star next to and explain at the bottom.

So here it is!

DÉSENCHANTÉE Disillusioned

Nager dans les eaux troubles
Des lendemains
Attendre ici la fin
Flotter dans l'air trop lourd
Du presque rien
A qui tendre la main

Swimming in troubled waters
Of the future
Waiting here for the end
Floating in the heaviest air
Of almost nothing
To whom do I reach out?

Si je dois tomber de haut
Que ma chute soit lente
Je n'ai trouvé de repos
Que dans l'indifférence
Pourtant, je voudrais retrouver l'innocence
Mais rien n'a de sens, et rien ne va

If I had to be astonished
That my fall is slow<--I'm not sure about these two lines
I only found some rest
In indifference
Rather, I would like to find my innocence again
But nothing goes (has a way)*, and nothing goes

Tout est chaos
A côté
Tous mes idéaux : des mots Abimés...
Je cherche une âme, qui
Pourra m'aider
Je suis
D'une géneration désenchantée, désenchantée

Everything’s chaos
Next to
All my ideals : damaged* words
I look for a soul, who
Will be able to help me
I am
Of a disillusioned generation
Disillusioned

Qui pourrait m'empêcher
De tout entendre
Quand la raison s'effondre
A quel sein se vouer
Qui peut prétendre
Nous bercer dans son ventre

Who could prevent me
From hearing everything
When reason collapses
In who can we devote ourselves?
Who can claim
To rock us in their stomach?
<--I'm not sure about this line either.

Si la mort est un mystère
La vie n'a rien de tendre
Si le ciel a un enfer
Le ciel peut bien m'attendre
Dis moi,
Dans ces vents contraires comment s'y prendre
Plus rien n'a de sens, plus rien ne va.

If death is a mystery
Life has nothing to hold out
If heaven has a hell
Heaven can well wait for me
Tell me
In these opposing wind, how can I go about?
Nothing makes sense anymore, nothing no longer goes

Tout est chaos
A côté
Tous mes idéaux : des mots Abimés...
Je cherche une âme, qui
Pourra m'aider
Je suis
D'une géneration désenchantée, désenchantée

Everything’s chaos
Next to
All my ideals : damaged* words
I look for a soul, who
Will be able to help be
I am
Of a disillusioned generation
Disillusioned

* I know that the word sens in French can mean "sense" and "way," as in "un sens unique," which means a one way street. Since this song appears to be discussing the world losing its way, this word can mean both "sense" and "way," as in "nothing makes sense anymore" or "nothing no longer has a way" (hope I made sense!)

*Abimés could have two meanings. According to the dictionary I have, it could mean damaged. But I noticed that abime is the word for abyss. And this fits with the song's topic of the world losing its way and heading towards an abyss.

From what I can gather, and from what I have mentioned above, this song appears to be told from the point of view of someone who is, well, "disillusioned" with the world and the way that things are going, wanting to find innocence again. Nothing makes sense, and "everything is chaos." This song almost reminds me of Alizee's J'en ai Marre with the idea of being disenchated with the world and wanting to escape.

As always, comments on my translation are always welcome. Feel free to leave any kind of feedback. And as always, thanks for reading! Smile

I think you have done a very good translation, I like it. Although my english is a bit poor, I'll help you Very Happy

Si je dois tomber de haut
Que ma chute soit lente

If I fall from the top
I want my fall to be slow

Nous bercer dans son ventre

Give us hope with it

Ohhhh, that makes sense now! Thanks for the help! Smile Those lines were probably the only ones I had trouble translating. This song was not too difficult to do actually.

I would personally write :
But nothing makes sense, and nothing goes (well).

Here is my translation

To swim in troubled waters
Of future days
Waiting for the end
To float on the air
Of almost nothing
Whom do I give hand?

If I
Have to fall from height
Let my descent be slow
I’ve found
Rest only at indifference again
However
I’d like to find innocence
But nothing has sense
And nothing goes well

All is chaos
On all the sides
And all my ideals
Are depraved words
I'm
looking for a soul
That can help me
I’m
From generation disenchanted
Disenchanted

Who could disturb me
From hearing everithing
When common sense is losing
To whose breast I have to cling
Who can pretend
Having lulled us in his womb

If the
death is a mystery
Life has nothing tender
If there's
The hell in the heaven
Heaven can already wait for me
Tell me
How to keep myself on the cross-wind
And nothing has sense
And nothing goes well

Hi, I don't mean to sound rude but we've already got a translation that's been corrected and agreed on by various people who speak French, we don't need any more. Plus I can already see quite a few errors from yours, mainly just literal translation of the French... as well as a few errors in English.

I thought that
"Plus rien n'a de sens, plus rien ne va. "
means
"Nothing makes sense, and nothing works"
